Brighton-based buds and alt-rock outfit Shugi formed in 2024—who always offer a dynamic fresh sound with each new song through warm, fuzzy melodies, thoughtful harmonies, occasional chaotic energy and emotionally-tapped lyrics to the ears of those who need to understand.
The four-piece consists of Jake Seaton (Singer/Guitarist), Layne Searle (Backing/Guitarist), Zein Mansour (Drummer), and Ethan Emerson (Bassist). The friends originally met in college, involving themselves in separate projects of their own, however, working together was always on the table. After their final year, they grouped together to start a new band with the simple goal of creating an equal and impactful driving force.
Whenever they take to the stage their message just seems to resonate with the crowd, whether that's through putting their hearts on the sleeve with a soft emotional song, getting the crowd involved with a funky groove or a frenzied wall of sound and energy that forces the crowd to move and the pits to open.
Their debut single Self Image, the first song they wrote together, is set to release early 2025. Since then, they have naturally evolved their sound with every new song, spreading the noise around East and West Sussex. Eager to get their message out there, who knows what comes next?
