Si Madhava (Sanskrit: Youthful & Fresh) — a bold current that embodies the name itself; sonically daring with vibrant force — emerged from the independent music scene of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. Si Madhava became a group that speaks to the faces, issues, and angst of today’s generation. Lyrically razor-sharp and relevant, wrapped in the band’s eclectic, passionate, and distinctly sonic sound.
Founded in 2019, Si Madhava consists of Airlangga Persada (vocals, writer), Reza Irawan (guitar), Nafis Parel (guitar), Naufal Ruby (bass), and Dede (drums). Born out of friendship, their sound is a melting pot of various backgrounds and musical influences each member brings to the table. Since they first appearance, Si Madhava quickly became one of scene darling, wandering from one gig to another across South Kalimantan. Their debut single, ‘Intoleran’ (2020), caught attention and recognition both on local stages and national through the internet, making them one of the culprits driving the new wave of thriving Banjarmasin indie music scene.
Now, five years after ‘Intoleran’ Si Madhava is set to drop the latest single, ‘Maria’ The track dives into the bitter-sweet complexity of an undefined affair. This marks Si Madhava’s move toward their debut album. After a long wait, ‘Maria’ feels like a relief, amid the mundane and uncertain lives of its members — making Si Madhava’s ambition stronger than ever.
