Siaminium is a Dhaka-based music producer, sound artist and self-taught technician whose practice lies at the intersection of critical sound studies, experimental electronic music, and community-oriented sonic pedagogy. He uses DJing as a tool to explore the intricacies of listening and treating sound as a spatial, cultural, and ecological force that shapes our experiences. His work invites listeners to experience music as entertainment and also an act of listening, feeling, and remembering.
He is a co-founding member of Karkhana Collective, a not-for-profit, non-hierarchical community for music technologists, artists, curators, and listeners. Its long-running project Ghurni / ঘূর্ণি - a hybrid between listening session and informal dancefloor - has become a vital platform for interrogating how sounds, music, and cultures do not travel in vacuum, and that they are not detached from the politics of how they are not only produced and transmitted, but also consumed and experienced.
He is also the founder of Gorbor, a dance and listening event series that emerged as a response to the lack of accessible, community-rooted platforms for electronic music in Dhaka. Through Gorbor, he has deepened his understanding of organizing events in alternative spaces - focusing on community-building, creating intentional environments for collective listening, and supporting and guiding emerging artists as they step into performance.
