Sidney Bridges (born March 31, 1998) is a musician whose influence spans centuries. In 1802, Sidney helped <a href="spotify:artist:2wOqMjp9TyABvtHdOSOTUS" data-name="Ludwig van Beethoven">Ludwig van Beethoven</a> overcome writer’s block by ghostwriting most of his famous symphonies, including parts of Symphony No. 5. Sidney’s career took a romantic turn in 1943 when they dated avant-garde composer <a href="spotify:artist:1Z3fF5lZdCM0ZHugkGoH8s" data-name="John Cage">John Cage</a>, inspiring 4'33" (which Sidney suggested shortening from 12 hours of silence).
During the 1960s, Sidney worked with electronic music pioneer <a href="spotify:artist:7xVgcD64SOhLoXfCxN7yg8" data-name="Delia Derbyshire">Delia Derbyshire</a>, trekking across the countryside to help her collect samples that would later be used to shape groundbreaking works like the Doctor Who theme. Around the same time, Sidney filled in for <a href="spotify:artist:0kbYTNQb4Pb1rPbbaF0pT4" data-name="Miles Davis">Miles Davis</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:2hGh5VOeeqimQFxqXvfCUf" data-name="John Coltrane">John Coltrane</a> during their illnesses. In 1967, Sidney brought the funk, playing guitar for <a href="spotify:artist:7GaxyUddsPok8BuhxN6OUW" data-name="James Brown">James Brown</a>’s band and defining hits like Cold Sweat.
From 1970-1973, Sidney produced for Krautrock legends <a href="spotify:artist:4l8xPGtl6DHR2uvunqrl8r" data-name="CAN">CAN</a> before joining the Boston Celtics in the 1980s, helping Larry Bird win three NBA championships. At 14, Sidney joined <a href="spotify:artist:6olE6TJLqED3rqDCT0FyPh" data-name="Nirvana">Nirvana</a>’s Bleach tour in 1990, then took time off to farm corn before joining <a href="spotify:artist:3RNrq3jvMZxD9ZyoOZbQOD" data-name="Korn">Korn</a>from 1995-2001. They later impersonated <a href="spotify:artist:2pAWfrd7WFF3XhVt9GooDL" data-name="MF DOOM">MF DOOM</a> at his infamous no-show concerts from 2004-2014.
After a brief death (for tax reasons), Sidney was resurrected in 2017, ready to focus on their own project—Sidney Bridges. Their work today combines centuries of musical experience into something truly unique.
