Signia Alpha investigate the psychology of rhythm by exploring a powerful groove or riff and extrapolating its ambient trance like qualities. Additional instruments are added to enhance the dream like qualities of the groove. Add to this collaborations with international musicians add further instrumentation, melody and lyrics to form more conventional songs in their catalogue.
In 2018 Signia Alpha released a series of singles, each based around a theme or events of modern life, inspired by themes of de-humanising industrial advancements, mental health issues and travel.
The singles Mrs Abel and Ayway are a collaborations with singer Paul Tunnicliffe, formerly of 1990s thrash metal band Slammer, first written and recorded in 1998.
October 2018 finally saw the release of the EP Music From 'The Detective', first recorded in the mid 1990s as a soundtrack to the arthouse film, The Detective, made by Czech cult nouveau noir writer/director Pavel Rosicky and shot in Prague in 1994.
In late 2018 Signia Alpha paid homage to influences from the punk era with a cover of The Stranglers' 1978 single 'Nice 'n' Sleazy' and versions of The Clash's 'The Call Up' and 'The Guns Of Brixton'.
Signia Alpha have recorded a full album with poet-performer Nick Toczek, entitled 'Shooting The Messenger' which will be released on January 1, 2020. The first single to me taken from the album was 'The Voices In His Head' by Nick Toczek & Signia Alpha. A second album is already being recorded.
