Sillaba is a project born from the collaboration between the Senegalese musician Maher Cissoko and the Swedish musician Andreas Unge. Maher Cissoko is a kora player from one of the most famous kora playing families in Senegal, whose knowledge has been passed from generation to generation through more than 700 years. As well as recording albums as a solo artist, he is also one half of the successful duo Sousou and Maher Cissoko and has toured extensively around Africa, North America and Europe, including at festivals like Glastonbury and Womad.

Andreas Unge is a composer, producer and touring musician from Sweden. It is impossible to pin his extensive list of achievements down; as well as performing in the celebrated timba/salsa group Calle Real, touring with artists such as Rodriguez and Robyn and composing soundtracks for various film projects, he has travelled and produced albums by musicians from all over the world, from Brazil, Senegal, Cuba, Ethiopia, Morocco, and Sweden.
