The name ‘Simon’s Ghost’ is derived from a particularly good track by the Factory Records band, <a href="spotify:artist:24gpHQzkEu37xGFjzHUHzY" data-name="Crispy Ambulance">Crispy Ambulance</a> from the album, <a href="spotify:album:24bpqHdnwouueEUoeMb62b" data-name="The Plateau Phase">The Plateau Phase</a>. The music is the brainchild of Chris Smillie who composes, plays, produces and sings all the original songs, with occasional help. The first album, <a href="spotify:album:4ykLx9eK3aZWrYiCCluM9s" data-name="A Sea of Stars">A Sea of Stars</a>, could be described as lo-fi electronica - <a href="spotify:artist:0yNLKJebCb8Aueb54LYya3" data-name="New Order">New Order</a> meets the <a href="spotify:artist:5LFLXgHKBVeUcdk5mI5JvE" data-name="Band of Holy Joy">Band of Holy Joy</a> - and was recorded on a 2-track recorder in the bedroom of a Scottish Highland village in the 1990s and released in 2009.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;A rather more sophisticated track, <a href="spotify:album:1eW8YFLCUVAru3Jv9lOhvX" data-name="Resonance">Resonance</a>, partially written by the Egyptian Zeina-T was then released in 2015. Then, in 2017, <a href="spotify:artist:6GBEv1WmLraorc1gvTEZvi" data-name="Simon's Ghost">Simon's Ghost</a> released the <a href="spotify:album:5wdZT66bq5xbbOd21mEA01" data-name="Breathe - EP">Breathe - EP</a>. This featured a harder guitar-based sound which reviews compared to <a href="spotify:artist:432R46LaYsJZV2Gmc4jUV5" data-name="Joy Division">Joy Division</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:2x9SpqnPi8rlE9pjHBwmSC" data-name="Talking Heads">Talking Heads</a>, the <a href="spotify:artist:4HxBVyHaUa60eCSsJWxwWR" data-name="Sisters of Mercy">Sisters of Mercy</a> and oh so many more. This EP also marked the first cover version ever recorded by <a href="spotify:artist:6GBEv1WmLraorc1gvTEZvi" data-name="Simon's Ghost">Simon's Ghost</a> - a haunting version of <a href="spotify:artist:3iTsJGG39nMg9YiolUgLMQ" data-name="Morrissey">Morrissey</a>'s 'I Know Very Well How I Got My Name'.
