Originally called EVEN and formed at the University of New Brunswick in 1997, this quintet played various clubs and the Atlantic Canadian university circuit before receiving a big break. Upon hearing of a North American Battle of the Bands contest, the group uploaded its song "Can You Feel the Rain" onto the contest's website. The group won first prize, which included three showcase gigs at the Viper Room in Los Angeles, New York City's Mercury Lounge, and opening for Kid Rock in Toronto.
