Siren is a Rochester-based, multi-generational, patriotic rock band with a passion for giving back to first responders through music. Siren was formed when Deputy Steve Curtis, the school resource officer at Rochester High, approached a talented sixteen-year old guitarist in the halls. Siren's current roster is: Steve Curtis, Evan Miller, Sean Donnelly, and Charlie Shoha.
“Since Deputy Curtis knew that I play guitar, he came up to me one day and said he needed help writing a song. That song became ‘Standin’ Tall’ which is now out on our debut EP,” lead guitarist Evan Miller remembers. Deputy Curtis says the ballad is about “standing for something, or falling for everything.” That same belief later became the heartbeat of the band. With a now 55 year-old police officer belting lead vocals and an eighteen year old shredding electric guitar, they then reached out to bassist Sean Donnelly and (former) drummer Kyle Garland. The band’s name is a direct tribute to their tremendous respect and support of first responders. Steve Curtis’ goal has always been to help protect and educate in any way he can, and Siren has become that vehicle. Giving back to the community is integral to Siren’s mission, and they often donate their ticket sales to local causes.
In April of 2019, drummer Charlie Shoha joined the band just in time to help finish Siren's first studio album, "Promises," which is available now.
As bassist Sean Donnelly says, “Rochester isn’t ready for us."
