Maya and Adeline of Sister Cousins are two cousins who share a passion for music.
When they were 7 years old, they fell in love with classic rock and their taste grew from there, including folk, jazz, country, bluegrass, classical, soul, and more.
Wanting to play music themselves, Adeline learned piano, guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, dulcimer, and saxophone, while Maya learned guitar, ukulele, bass guitar, harmonica, djembe, mandolin, and banjo. But the lists won’t stop there; both cousins are still continuing to expand their instrumental abilities.
In July 2019, Maya and Adeline visited Nashville, Tennessee and had the opportunity to perform at an open mic at the Commodore Grille. They performed an original they had just completed the night before called “Desert Lily”. The following day, they went to the Ryman Auditorium and recorded “Desert Lily” in the recording booth that is open for tourists to use. They soon released it as their very first single under the name “Sister Cousins”, a name they chose because they feel more like sisters than cousins due to their closeness.
With their diverse influences, multi-instrumentalism, impeccable harmonies, and a strong connection with their Appalachian roots, Maya and Adeline can’t wait to continue performing and releasing music as a duo.
