Skarworx is a solo project and instrumental creative arena by the acclaimed Norwegian pianist Øystein Skar. Launched during the pandemic in 2020, the project is characterized by a cross-genre blend of beats, dark ambient electronic music, Neo-classical music, and pop. Skar spent over a decade in the pop industry, touring extensively across the world with the renowned pop band Highasakite, and earning multiple Norwegian Grammys and platinum albums. However, he eventually chose to return to his roots and focus on the piano, an instrument that he has dedicated his entire life to mastering since he began playing classical piano at the age of six. The project is characterized by extensive textural use of synths, analog and modern drum machines, strings, layered pianos, and electronics - drawing inspiration from defying artists such as Nils Frahm, Floating Points, Four Tet, Olafur Arnalds, and Yann Tiersen. Skarworx's cinematic and expansive debut album, Seed-X, was released in late 2021 on Grappa, Norway's most prominent indie label, followed by Seed-X vol.2 in 2022. The project culminated in releasing the third and final album in the Seed-X trilogy, Seed-X vol.3, in 2023.
Since its inception, Skarworx has garnered significant interest from music magazines such as Nordic Simit and has received airplay on radio stations like Radio Fritz Berlin and Dublab. In 2022, Skarworx signed with Sizzer Amsterdam and supported the Dutch pianist Joep Beving (Deutsche Gramophone) in Oslo
