Based out of Houston, TX, Skeptik Nation is the self-proclaimed pioneers of H-Town Punk; A fusion of Punk, Hip Hop, and everything that every culture in H-Town has to offer. Influenced by punk bands such as Rancid and The Casualties, to Rap/Rock pioneers such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine and Linkin Park. Taking these influences, Skeptik Nation decided to incorporate sounds and rhythms from other genres such as Salsa, Bachata, Funk, Tejano and Zydeco. As the music continues, Skeptik Nation continues to grow with a dream to establish a sound that will forever define H-Town!
Songs like “White Noise”, the first single from the Latest Album, “Second Hand Smoke”, keep a fast paced hard hitting edge found in Punk and Hardcore that somehow manages to mesh with a Salsa groove to make you dance. Vocals range from shouted lyrics about music and party, to rapping about revolution and the gaslighting by the media and politicians. To include anymore ingredients will definitely make the gumbo pot overflow! While songs like “Can’t Say” take a step back with a more Reggae inspired backdrop with lyrics about the hardships and stresses of relationships.
Needless to say, Skeptik Nation is definitely experimenting and finding ways to bring Punk to the forefront and reminding everyone that Punk isn’t dead!
