In 1983, the band Ski Villains was recording their revolutionary album Hot Tub Steam & Fondue Dreams in a remote mountain lodge. Known for pushing the boundaries of rock and blending ski culture with heavy riffs, the band was considered way ahead of its time. Tragically, their loud recording session triggered a massive avalanche, killing most of the members. The survivors, stranded with no food, were forced to burn their instruments and eat their fallen bandmates to survive.

Though many recordings were lost in the snow, the surviving tracks quietly spread, influencing rock legends. Mötley Crüe’s rebellious edge, Creed’s anthemic vocals, Clif Magness’s epic ballads, and even Sir Anthony’s contributions were all inspired by Ski Villains. Their untapped genius became the stuff of legend among insiders.

In 2024, the long-lost Ski Lodge demo tapes were finally released to the public. Despite being lost for 40 years, it remains the only rock album ever dedicated exclusively to ski culture. Hailed as a precursor to modern rock, the album serves as a haunting reminder of their raw talent and untimely demise, forever cementing their status as unsung pioneers who shaped the future of rock in secret.
