When Sleep Alley dropped their demo EP, A Lesson on Perspective, in 2017, the band showed great promise from the outset. Their debut album, Sino Nagsabing Takot Ako Sa Dilim, soon followed, cementing their status in the Philippine music scene as fans resonated with their music, claiming them as the soundtrack of their lives.
Much like the rest of the world, the band was thrown off its axis during the pandemic. With some members departing, they lost their direction and were prompted to take a hiatus. During this time each member set off on their own path, confronting and overcoming personal struggles in lockdown.
Years later, renewed by their individual growth, the band reunited in 2024 and began working on their comeback EP, Idlip. "Umidlip lang kami," as one of the members aptly said.
With a nostalgic early 2000s classic OPM sound, Idlip kicks off with recurring dreams of love lost — spiraling into fixations of making things right. As these restless thoughts give way to radical acceptance, the record slows down with a lullaby to manifest a love that was long promised and fully awakens to a love finally realized.
This record marks a major shift for Sleep Alley. After 8 years of making music out of other people’s stories, the band looks inward, drawing inspiration from their own narratives, making this their most vulnerable release yet. With this introspective turn and a new lineup, the band hopes to reconnect with fans and transition into a new era of Sleep Alley.
