Denis Degher is the artist SLEEPY GUITAR JOHNSON, and "Parliament of Owls" is his 10th album. Degher was 11 years old when he picked up his father's old acoustic guitar for the first time, but it wasn't until college in the SF bay area that he began to take it seriously as a singer/songwriter. After bumming around Europe for a couple of years guitar in hand, he eventually made to L.A. and morphed into a serious student of guitar, studying under some greats including Joe Pass. As luck would have it, while recording demos in a small studio on Sunset strip, the owner overheard he was taking electronic courses. He mentioned that he was looking for an intern. Degher asked, "Can I do my demos here?" George said he could when he learned how to run the gear. Degher said, "cool," and started as a disc cutter on a Presto lathe. Like all success stories, he parlayed his break and this launched his career as a guitarist, recording engineer/producer and studio owner in the cut throat L.A. music scene.
He has worked with: Earth, Wind & Fire, Donovan, 2Pac, LA Guns, Brian Setzer, Queen, Dusty Springfield, Fab T Birds, Airto, Flora Purim, Andreae Crouch, and many many more. And all the while he's been composing and recording, doing what he loves. And oh yeah, he started award-winning Domaine Degher & Mojo Cellars wines and lives on a vineyard in Paso Robles, California.
