“I knew ‘Shabooya’ was good, but the way that it took off? I did not expect that. I’m not thinking like, ‘I’ve got to make a hit.’ I want my songs to do well, but it will come when it’s supposed to come. It’s gangster and Memphis but it’s got this femininity to it too,” she says of her sound. Since embarking on a nationwide tour with fellow Tennessean GloRilla, audiences everywhere are learning what Slimeroni has known all along: she’s an artist able to articulate the angst of a generation and keep them entertained.
