Who is SLiNK?
SLiNK is a Canadian rapper, songwriter and producer who grew up in London's impoverished East end riddled with drugs and violence. He used rap as an escape, started writing in 2010 and appearing for the first time performing at a small venue called "The APK" in 2015. Since then, SLiNK has been performing at multiple venues around Ontario with most notable performance sharing a stage with the iconic Rapper Obie Trice along with many other renowned artists. Jake co-created his own production company (Big Mouth Records London) in 2015 and has been producing for many local artists while working with more established artists such as MadChild
Rapper SLiNK was born Jacob Hannon on January 7, 1995, in London, Ontario, Canada. His parents separated at the age of 5 in 2000 and was raised by his single mother along with 2 older siblings, until tragedy struck in late 2004 when Jacob lost his brother and role model Michael David Hannon in a traffic accident. Michael was very passionate about the Hip Hop community which he passed onto Jacob.
During a rough adolescence, detailed in many of his songs, Jake dealt drugs and flirted with violence. Jacob was enrolled at H.B Beal Secondary School, but due to the heavy influence of drugs and violence rarely attended class ultimately dropping out in 2011. As Jay-Z later recalled in one of his songs "I went to school, got good grades, could behave when I wanted/But I had demons deep inside that would raise when confronted."
