Slooga play heavy blues rock rooted in the style of Jimi Hendrix and John Lee Hooker incorporating modern rock influences. The power trio from Lower Austria was founded in 2015 by front man and guitarist Mario R. Sluga who wanted to turn his old combo Electric Church into something more innovative and progressive. In 2016 their self-produced album “Burning Shoe” was released, featuring many originals such as “Evil”, “Killing Women” and “Searching” as well as interpretations of classics like “Boom, Boom, Boom” and “Hound Dog”. In early 2020 the band was reborn when Sluga introduced new drummer Florian Hartl and bassist Dominik Kraushofer. Having known each other for quite a while jamming in local clubs, they soon developed a unique sound and exceptional way of playing together. 2021 marks the release of their EP “Jumpin’” (Bloombox Records), which was produced by the band themselves and comprises six highly energetic blues rock songs that depict the musical bandwidth of Slooga. The EP was made in the course of three different recording session, one of them took place as a live tracking in the band’s rehearsal space in their hometown of St. Pölten, Lower Austria. The guitar playing of band leader and six string virtuoso Mario R. Sluga, together with his unique and powerful voice make up the focal point of the music. Honoring traditional blues from decades ago and combining it with modern rock is what Slooga has always been heading out to do.
