A decade seems like a long time when you say it out loud, but it doesn’t seem that long ago that Slowlight released their debut EP and started doing shows up and down the country, sharing stages with bands such as The Get Up Kids, Into It. Over It., The Hotelier and Martha.
The reason behind the band’s longevity is its ethos, one dedicated to friendship and freedom over all else. It is art for art’s sake, no agendas or blueprints for fame, just a need to be in the same room sharing the same cathartic experience together. We’re just not in a hurry to get anywhere, we’re already where we want to be, making the music we want to make, with the people we want to make it with.
Since releasing their debut album ‘The Only Thing I Want Is To Know What I Want’ in early 2018, the band has put out a handful of singles and cover tracks to contribute to compilations in aid of various charities. With renewed focus on crafting catchy, yet acerbic alt rock songs, Slowlight have a slew of singles ready to pave the way to a full-length release. These new songs encapsulate the essence of the band, with beth’s vocals at their sharpest and most heart-wrenchingly honest, accompanied by soaring melodies and driving rhythms that are bound to find their way into your brain and stay there.
That's Pretty Good (For a Girl), their first release in 5 years marks Slowlight firmly on the map as a band with plenty more to give, keep an ear out for a follow up single, and full-length on the way.
