By the time Slykstah (born Jovan Edward Moore-Prewitt) was born in the early nineties, his family had already left a legacy in San Francisco. His Great Uncle Eddie Moore (from which he gets his namesake), and great cousin Merl Saunders are local jazz legends. Jovan would gaze upon a gigantic mural in the Fillmore, memorializing them and other great black musicians. They are pictured playing music, with huge smiles and sparkling eyes as if encouraging him to follow in their steps. His unique style is both loose yet controlled. Ranging from fast-paced flows, to slower, catchy melodies laced with contemporary subject matter. A multi-faceted creative entrepreneur, His passion for art and music, drive his hustle.
