BIOGRAPHY

Shiwe Unathi Mthwazi also known as Smartblack Mampondo is a South African based artist, he is a writer, poet , musician and a fashion stylist. This Durban artist who is rooted in the Eastern Cape is also a member of a sartorial movement called Amaroto and he is part of a poetic duo called Abalobi. Smartblack Mampondo's love for art started at an early age where he won a poetry competition at Ekhaya Multi Arts Centre in 2012, since then he has performed in a numerous number of concerts namely: Give Me Ten Mics , Muted Lips, Uthungulu Festival, Playhouse Poetry And Jazz Sundowners Concert, Poet In A Suit, Umthatha Word Festival, Umgungundlovu Poetry Festival, Phindubhale One Man Poetry Show , he was also a part of a big poetry project in Joburg Theatre called Current State Of Poetry, Collaborated with Zewande Bhengu at Tembisa TX Theatre in the showcase called Writing On The Wall just to name a few.
In 2014 he collaborated with Ingonyama Entertainment & Sbahle in a successful song called Vuka it was produced and in UK by Paul Hussey.
This amazing artist is also a fashion stylist who once collaborated with GQ Magazine, SA Youth Magazine, Closet No 83 and Markham with his fellow movement called Amaroto Kulturefield . Smartblack Mampondo has invented his own genre called SoulBhaqanga which is a mixture o Rhythm And Poetry (RAP) spiced with Umbhaqanga and Soul Music.
