Smetonos ūsai is an instrumental trio who play music recorded in the beginning of the last century in towns and countryside of Lithuania: polkas, waltzes, foxtrots, marches. They learned most of these melodies from musicians from the region of Aukštaitija. The members of the group want to stay close to the authentic sound so they play in a composition characteristic to the times: violin, diatonic Peterburg harmonica, hand drum. While playing they enrich the melodies with improvisation, creating subtle compositions. The musicians are also active in creating new tradition, there are several projects being executed: dance festival “Folk LT”, on the weekends – a project in Lithuanias cities and towns “Market music”. Trio believe that “Your dance is the best expresaion of our music”.
Edita Gumauskaitė – violin;
Martynas Vingrys – accordion;
Artiom Opperman – hand drum.
