SMOOV Daddy

Born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, SMOOV Daddy born David Jones, grew up close enough to Detroit, Michigan to be wholly influenced by the growing Hip-Hop culture coming from the United States. His original influences were Run DMC and LL Cool J but soon SMOOV came of age listening to Public Enemy, Paris, Rakim and many of the revolutionary emcees from the early 90s. While attending college in Illinois, the SMOOV persona was born and he soon found his knack writing conscious raps like Mr. Devil and WayBack that we’re inspired by the Rodney King beatings.
Over the course of 30 years SMOOV has rocked small stages across North America but put down the mic temporarily to inspire and mentor amateur artists as well as, help them gain a foothold in the industry with his organization S.H.I.E.L.D. (Society for Hip-Hop Innovation, Excellence, Leadership and Development).
However after 6 years away, SMOOV Daddy released 5 singles in 2022 and was once again bitten by the recording bug so in 2023, SMOOV has returned to the lab to create more offerings for his upcoming Life, Love & Loss album tentatively scheduled for release in early 2024.
