Sofija Knezevic

Sofija Knežević is recognized as one of the preeminent jazz vocalists of her generation. Praised for her breathtaking improvisational virtuosity, she blends deep-rooted tradition with striking creativity. The New York Times hails her as “one of the most significant singers in jazz today.”

A prodigy, Sofija earned a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz at just 16, studying under Dena DeRose. She has since amassed numerous accolades, including the Marianne Mendt Jazz Award, Tesla Award, Thailand International Jazz Voice Competition, and the City Artists Corps grant.

Since moving to New York in 2011, she has taught at leading music institutions while actively performing and composing. Sofija has collaborated with jazz luminaries like Wynton Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, Sheila Jordan, Christian McBride, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

Her debut album “SOFIJAZZ” won nine international music awards, while her latest record, “Live at The Bunker,” has earned multiple nominations.

A passionate advocate, she serves as an ambassador for ICAF, CYE, Estee Lauder’s Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, and Amazon Aid Foundation. Listed first in Elle Magazine’s 30 Under 30, Sofija continues to shape the future of jazz while composing for film, museums, and major jazz ensembles.
