Formed by four friends in Geneseo, a New York college town outside of Rochester, Soft Cough has dedicated themselves to crafting infectious and witty jams that blur the lines between 90s-twinged slacker rock, power pop, and bedroom rock. Soft Cough's DIY ethos, multi-media artistry, and idiosyncratic approach to lyricism and storytelling helped cement them as cult favorites of the 2010s underground indie rock scene. While the band's four members – Dan Pugh, Tom Kohn, Nick Koithan, and Ben Freiman – are spread across Brooklyn, the Hudson Valley, and Buffalo, their deep friendship and intense desire to collaborate hasn't slowed them down.

Soft Cough is now back with their second full length LP titled "Candied Squawk," their first release to feature lead vocals from all four members. The album is lush with wide guitars, layered arrangements, quirky compositions, and earworm melodies. Still inspired by their DIY mindset and their years spent rocking away in sweaty basements, Soft Cough's new album still hints at the rawness and earnestness of their self-titled debut LP while showcasing the band's elevated and sharper songwriting skills and studio treatment. The songs are punchy, raucous, funny, and catchy – a perfect soundtrack for an adventure, a drive, or a ride on the train. And, while the sound of Soft Cough has grown over time, so have their biting wit and sly pop sensibilities that have served as through line of their artistry over the past decade.
