Now based in San Francisco, California, Soft Pastels is a project taking inspiration from new wave, cold wave and dreampop.
Originally started in France, the project continued in Brooklyn in 2014. This home recording act was originally defined by the constraints of a small bedroom with no window. Influential Brooklyn-based shows such as <a href="spotify:artist:0m5FakHKCQdA7UN0PIzMcL" data-name="Current Joys">Current Joys</a> have been inspirational to Soft Pastels’ approach to guitar playing. Later on, the project took a pause when focusing on playing live guitar for <a href="spotify:artist:0k8UHfMqW86uvhmhHiYzj3" data-name="CASTLEBEAT">CASTLEBEAT</a>, and bass for the shoegaze band <a href="spotify:artist:15DYjg9mtR7dQc0me7EFDE" data-name="No Kill">No Kill</a>.
Soft Pastels is the result of an obsession for reverb, chorus and minimal new wave drum machine tones.
