Sohail Haider

Sohail Haider is a Pakistani singer-Lyricist from Karachi. He sings in various genres including Sufi rock and had his latest hit with the Na Jaa language song "Saiyaan Peer Qalandar" in collaboration with the Ampliify Times.

Sohail has acquired the interest of music from his mother. His mother used to have a cassette player on which she used to listen the music. She also had an amazing voice, but she never sang. She used to recite majalis and marsiye only

Following the passion that he inherited from his mother, he joined an academy present in Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi where he started learning music. As he used to listen songs/ghazals with his mother, he fortunately memorized every ghazal not only the lyrics but all the music, sur, taal, leh, and delivery. Luckily when he was practicing at Arts Council, he met The great Mehdi Hasan in the academy where he sang his ghazal infront of him and he appreciated him for that. Some representatives of PTV were also there who heard Sohail and his luck strikes hard there. Sohail was asked by Ustad Niyaz ahmed to sing with Benjamin Sisters on the occasion of 14th August. The song "Wo Ehad kia tha Wafaein kia thien, Laboun p apne sadaein kia thin" sung with Benjamin Sisters won the best award among all 5 stations of PTV (Regional HQs and Federal) and it became the most popular song of its time.

He also showed up in different TV shows like Salam Zindagi with Faysal Qureshi, Breaking Weekend, Mazaakrat, etc
