SOMEWHERE NORTH UNVEILS A FRESH SONIC ODYSSEY: A BLEND OF ALT-ROCK EXTRAVAGANCE AND POP INGENUITY
Somewhere North started in 2024 by the longstanding friendship and creative camaraderie of Gary O'Neill and Geoff Warner-Clayton, concocting a sound that fuses heavily-produced alt-rock tracks with a tantalising pop flavour. Growing up together in Kilkenny, Gary and Geoff have been musical compatriots since their teenage years, carving their individual paths in the music industry.
In their own words, "We started this project for fun, just hanging out, writing music together. Writing together always felt seamless, since we were 16. Sharing a creative space in Dublin this past year has only fuelled our creativity. Somewhere North emerged from the simplicity of making music, and as the songs kept coming - it felt like a no-brainer to see it through."
Somewhere North sets the stage with their debut single, "Eden," the inaugural release from a trove of unreleased tracks. This track serves as an exciting glimpse into the duo's sonic universe, a song that lives for an addictive chorus-pop hook, where intricate sound design and modern production converge to create something unique. At its core, Somewhere North is a celebration of friendship and a shared passion for creating music - for the sake of making music.
