Not like your typical artist - Sonnie Waves carries a poetically conventional presents with an urban edge. Finding inspiration from artists such as J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Andre 3000, T.I., Drake, Mary J. Blige, Sade, Marvin Gaye, Jimmy Ruffin, Bobby Brown, and Total to name a few. Blending styles of Hip-Hop with contemporary R&B, while also being able to brush his vocals over Dancehall & Pop tracks such “Summer Love.”

Sonnie Waves, is an American rapper, singer, dancer, & song writer that has arrived with his own unique approach to the music scene. Originally born in Raleigh, North Carolina, Sonnie Waves is able to offer up an elusive flow that enables him to create songs such as, “BAG.” We hear his catchy flow while still viciously floating over 808’s rapping about his hometown and family. He mentions, “If you want the smoke, then bring it to Atkins,” the street in which he grew up on.

However, before this multi talented superstar would go on to write the lyrics of a hometown anthem, Sonnie Waves was set on a path to pursue a career in sports, specifically football which lead to a scholarship in Phoenix, Arizona after high school. While the road was later cut short, the involvement in music did not fade. The young R&B wave god would go on to drop his first single, “CANDY,” a soothing vibe about his first crush in Arizona. Having spent the second half of his teenage years in the valley, Sonnie Waves gives credit to Arizona for taking part in raising him
