Sons of the Golden West makes music in Northern California.
The latest album, "When Lightning Strikes Twice," spans the gamut of the Sons of the Golden West sound. It's a cross-country road trip. Sons of the Golden West started as an indie rock band. Then it expanded into Americana, roots rock, and spaghetti Western. Then it added flavors of chill and post-rock and even neo-classical pop.
"When Lightning Strikes Twice" embraces all those influences, synthesizing them into a cohesive work that is a tribute to everything Sons of the Golden West has been, and a statement of what it will be.
The previous album, “Punch Drunk Moon,” explores indie rock, with shades of chill wave, post-rock and ambient music, with a touch of orchestral indie pop thrown in. This collection of instrumentals was inspired by looking into the night sky, contemplating life's big questions.
