Soombee, the Singer-Songwriter Who Breathes Life into Her Music
Soombee made her debut in the music scene at the age of 16 with her self-composed song ‘Papa,’ earning the Encouragement Award and Alumni Award at the 2020 Yoo Jae-ha Music Contest. The name “Soombee” comes from the sound of a breath released by a haenyeo (female diver) as she surfaces from the water. It symbolizes her aspiration to be a musician who breathes life into her listeners.
Centered around Hongdae, she has been actively performing, and in 2022, she was selected as one of the Top 10 [Hello Rookies of the Year] In 2023, she gained further recognition as she was chosen as a [Muse On] Artist by the Korea Creative Content Agency.
Soombee boldly showcases her unique music across a variety of genres, including folk, folk rock, lo-fi hip hop, alternative rock, blues rock, and hard rock. Her husky yet clear voice transcends genres, creating music that is distinctively "Soombee-esque." Her honest and straightforward lyrics captivate listeners, drawing them deeply into her world.

숨비는 16살에 만든 자작곡 ‘아빠’로 2020년 유재하 음악경연대회에서 장려상,동문상을 받으며
음악 씬에 등장했다. 해녀가 물질을 하고 물 밖으로 나오면서 참았던 숨을 내쉬는 소리를 숨비소리라 부른다.그 이름을 ‘듣는 이들에게 숨을 내어주는 뮤지션이 되겠다’ 는 뜻으로서 활동을 이어가고있다.
홍대를 중심으로 활발한 공연활동을 펼치는 가운데, 2022년에는 올해의 헬로루키 Top 10에 선정되었으며 2023년에는 한국콘텐츠진흥원 뮤즈온 아티스트로 선발되어 또 한 번 주목받고 있다.
포크, 포크록, 로파이 힙합, 얼터너티브록, 블루스록, 하드록 등 다양한 장르로 자신만의 음악을 과감하게 보여준다. 허스키하면서도 맑은 음색은 장르와 무관하게 ‘숨비로운’ 음악으로 다가오며, 솔직하고 담백한 가사들은 듣는 이로 하여금 푹 빠져들게 만든다.
