Sophia HP is a danish singer and composer. With her melodic compositions and contemplative lyrics she invites the audience into her complex and expressive universe. Her music touches the singer/songwriter tradition and has a twist of jazz and folk to it. On November 8th 2024 she will release her new EP "Hvor stiller det os nu?".
Sophia HP’s debut album “Carry On” in 2022 was met with rave reviews. “Confident, promising, remarkable, impressive,” wrote GAFFA about the young singer and composer, who has established herself as a strong voice on the Danish folk and jazz scene. After a series of concerts and a showcase at SPOT festival, Sophia HP was nominated for the GAFFA Award in the category ‘New Danish Name of the Year’ in 2022. Her debut album has been praised by critics for its strong compositions and lyrics. "In a class of its own, with great credibility and integrity from start to finish" (Martin Loft in Loftskammer).
She now presents her new EP in Danish, exploring the vulnerable nuances of the concept ‘friendship’. With honest and thought-provoking lyrics, Sophia invites us to confront our own vulnerabilities and reflect on how much the people we choose ourselves mean to us and affect us, for better or worse. This EP was recorded at Finland Studio by Jacob S. Worm, and features Frederik Vuust (piano), Elias HP (bass) and three vocalists (Freja Keitum, Nynne Spangegaard and Mathilde Rosengren) complementing Sophia’s lead vocal and challenging the harmony.
