Sophie Joe's passion for music began in childhood. Starting piano at 5, she was singing on stage by 8 and soon took on professional gigs. At 16, she captivated <a href="spotify:artist:7bvcQXJHkFiN1ppIN3q4fi" data-name="Joss Stone">Joss Stone</a> at the Singapore International Jazz Festival, prompting Stone to remark, “No one ever sings for me; that’s never happened at a press conference before.”
Her love for jazz blossomed under the mentorship of Michelle Poh and <a href="spotify:artist:6s3c4HoIpSpgDUYdfd7ZyS" data-name="Alemay Fernandez">Alemay Fernandez</a>. In 2019, Sophie was accepted into Berklee College of Music, where she studied under Grammy-winning vocalist <a href="spotify:artist:0cv8X9QNT0s3OHfVVeNWkM" data-name="Luciana Souza">Luciana Souza</a> & <a href="spotify:artist:1oTsWUwZaA7BU0FPUGN6CX" data-name="Nacho Marco">Nacho Marco</a>, deepening her interest in turntables. When the pandemic disrupted her studies, she started experimenting with genre-bending mixes.
During this time, Sophie connected with <a href="spotify:artist:0osYTSrOpW6YESEC1lClwN" data-name="Courtesy">Courtesy</a>, producing <a href="spotify:album:5CAU2Xx0mL2PyKGOW8y1Pp" data-name="Night Journeys II">Night Journeys II</a>, featured at the CHANEL Fall-Winter 2022/23 Haute Couture Show. She also contributed to Courtesy’s debut album, <a href="spotify:album:0jSyoxQTkDc75l5pARJRK3" data-name="fra eufori">fra eufori</a>, performing at the release event at Kraupa-Tuskany Zeidler in Berlin, where they presented "Gossip II" with artists Dim Ettra, <a href="spotify:artist:1qx1wjImNcB4QRgT6OQceR" data-name="Eddington Again">Eddington Again</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:04PGhfooPK0YQZPAj3itqo" data-name="KLŌ">KLŌ</a>, and Francesca Burattelli. Additionally, she was a featured vocalist on a latest single <a href="spotify:album:3txMdJVRSsWSekEHeronvM" data-name="Gretel Girl (breadcrumbs)">Gretel Girl (breadcrumbs)</a> with Sofia D. Leiby, <a href="spotify:artist:7AyNPhiTjEsBF4HBBW4gDf" data-name="Spray">Spray</a>, and Ben Meerwein.
