SOPP is a two-piece alternative-rock project started by Aaron Bennett and Alex McArthur. Their previous project, Mycelium, comprised of instrumental music spanning genres from ambient to funk constructed with drum machines, guitars and synths. As they moved to writing music with lyrical content, SOPP was born.
SOPP continues where the Mycelium project left off by using the same dense harmonies and synth bass lines, but adds more energy with big overdriven guitars with complex bass guitar riffs that lay the foundations for the vocal melodies that sit on top.
Influenced by the pop-jazz harmony of Mac DeMarco and combining the electronic-rock elements of Enter Shikari with the eerie guitar melodies of Radiohead, SOPP produce music of an interesting hybrid genre.
