Soramimi, alias of Celia S. Kim, is a NYC electronic composer, producer, sound designer & co-owner of Dusk Notes record label. Launched in 2011, her project focuses on music as narrative imagery, with a celestial sound illustrated by cerebral textures & rhythms, & deep hallucinatory compositions. She brings a distinct fluency & gravity to the table of nuanced experimental techno & ambient.
Well-received in both critical & tastemaker circles, “Rapture Insignia,” released on Dusk Notes in 2015 as her second solo EP, proved to be a groundbreaking production for the artist. Resident Advisor applauded its exploratory sound & generative composition, by the “hardware whiz capable of finding beauty in the stormiest of synth workouts.” Electronic Explorations Podcast featured the release alongside Soramimi’s rare DJ mix, praised by many as their rare find for the year. 2015 also saw the artist’s success as a sound designer for an award-winning ad campaign for IBM US Open.
Her swiftly expanding catalog features releases alongside Perc, Acronym & ASC. The release of Soramimi’s third solo EP “Pure Rubedo” on Dusk Notes & her exclusive feature for Slam Radio 274, were both highlights for the producer in 2017. 2018 further propelled the artist’s creations with “two strong, deeply hypnotic releases on Monday Off & Detroit Underground” & a “masterfully engineered” remix on Dusk Notes (Mixmag) - her co-run label which “like Soramimi herself..demands & rewards close inspection.” (DJ Mag)
