Born and raised a riverbank away from the birthplace of Motown, prolific Canadian singer-songwriter Soul Brother Mike has a lifetime of immersion in classic soul and R&B music. With over a decade of experience crafting and performing intelligent, compelling songs, Mike continues to re-define the sound of Canadian independent music.
The proof of Mike's songwriting ability is in his accolades - charting on the Top 100 in Canadian Rock Radio, reaching #1 in the MuchMore Music Top Countdown (The Walkervilles' "Please Baby Stay" and Michou's "Growing Younger"), and winning XM Radio The Verge's Artist of the Year in 2011 with Michou - earned while rigorously touring, writing, and recording.
Mike's solo career began with the release of his debut album 'Off Mike' in 2015, revealing his unique creative vision, with influences ranging from <a href="spotify:artist:7G1GBhoKtEPnP86X2PvEYO" data-name="Nina Simone">Nina Simone</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:4nts0oxMT67lVUoi5Kjxrb" data-name="Solomon Burke">Solomon Burke</a> to <a href="spotify:artist:6fnqzS1hvb0HUV5YHIBkAJ" data-name="Lewis Taylor">Lewis Taylor</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:5XWrDs9DhuuC96bXWAS6cj" data-name="Sidibe">Sidibe</a>. A second album "Learn To Vibe" became his first widely-distributed album in May 2017, followed later that year by a holiday EP entitled "Soulstice" and the formation of his latest horn-fuelled soul band, <a href="spotify:artist:5KMuFZNnATd5e5bdCYGUiG" data-name="The Family Soul">The Family Soul</a>.
