If you think you know her, you don’t. If you think you don’t - you’re closer than the others.
Playing hopscotch on the squares of the Bay Area, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Boston, and a few other chai stops in between, Soumya can be found weaving a spiderweb of lovely souls, tragedies choking in silver linings, and an obstinance to leave a thing better than she found it.
Musical influences:
1. Her mother's tattered Carnatic textbook passed down from her own youth.
2. An Indian childhood of bunking class, jumping out of the back classroom window, and running to the choir room.
3. American lunch recesses, lying on the grass with friends, memorizing print outs of Disney sheet music. Could she read sheet music? No.
4. Grew up singing in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, English, and French.
All in all, what she stands for is simple.
Inclusion. Joy. Integrity. And Guts.
