Space Sailors is a dynamic four‑piece synth act spanning North America, featuring Dylan Ugel from Philadelphia, Mark White from Canada, Bela Memory from New York, and Matthew Lee from Oklahoma, a group that to this day has never actually met in person.
Born during the Coronavirus pandemic, Space Sailors formed through the online forums for Auxy, a mobile‑exclusive DAW that became their shared creative playground. Long before any of them learned desktop production, they were already shaping their sound on their phones; a workflow they still use today. The group continues to craft tracks by sending files back and forth across the continent until everyone agrees a piece is finished. It’s a testament to digital connection, remote creativity, and the freedom modern tools make possible.
Their breakout moment came with “Test Pilot,” the very first track they ever released — the single landed on the influential YouTube channel Electronic Gems and quickly became their most popular piece by a wide margin. Since then, their music has reached far beyond their screens, carrying them past five million streams, something the group remains deeply grateful for.
Over time, they’ve expanded their toolkit, mixing and refining their tracks across a range of computer programs while keeping the spirit of their Auxy roots. Now they present Retrovision, their second album, released this New Year’s. Space Sailors continues their mission to keep sailing through space, no matter what you’ve got.
