Sparklet writes tender, ethereal music that feels both deeply idiosyncratic and universal.
The first fruit of this new project 'EP01' is a collection of beautiful and unusual songs written and produced between his hometown of Cape Town, South Africa, Dublin and Berlin.
Alongside his music Sparklet has a successful career as a visual artist. Notable upcoming shows are ‘Death Row Dinner’ at The Fourth Gallery and the Cape Town Art Fair 2022. He has also worked in design and was the recipient of a 2016 Silver Loerie award in the poster design category. His love for visual art greatly informs the way he writes music, often making music inspired by his artwork and vice versa.
Out now is Sparklet’s first EP where he’s created a body of work with restless creativity, playfulness and a painter’s eye for detail that cites everything from rave aesthetics to 80’s soft rock guilty pleasures.
EP01 is comprised of songs that range in feeling, from sadness to elation to nostalgia. All treated differently, playfully veering away from each other aesthetically while still maintaining a strong sense of cohesion as a body of work. Altogether the songs that make up EP01 detail Sparklets’ movements and ideas throughout a few months in 2019 and mark the beginning of an ever-growing and deepening musical output.
