Spires are a four piece Progressive Metal band, based in Manchester, UK, formed in 2008, and initially the brainchild of vocalist and guitarist Paul Sadler.
Musically, comparisons are often made to @Opeth, @Emperor, @Mastodon and @Cynic; however this barely touches on the kaleidoscope of influences, both metal and otherwise, that combine to deliver a truly original, and often mesmerising sound.
Spires released their critically acclaimed debut album, '@Spiral of Ascension' in November 2010, followed by 2012’s equally praised acoustic mini-album, ‘Lucid Abstractions’. These were both accompanied by extensive touring in UK and Europe, including 2 appearances at Bloodstock Festival.
In October 2014 they announced their signing to Eulogy media, and successfully funded a Kickstarter campaign for the pressing and mastering of their second album, ‘The Whisperer’. This was released in November 2014, and very quickly garnered huge amounts of international praise from critics. The band has spent the last few years completing several tours in support of the album, honing their live show into something truly special.
A couple of line-up changes in 2017 resulted in a newly invigorated outfit, featuring renowned drummer Zac Oneil (ex Criminal/Agonyst), and Dan White (Ascent) on guitar, alongside founding member Alex Jolley on bass. Recording for the third full length album is due to begin early 2018, for a mid year release.<br>
