Spiritual Don

Spiritual Don, aka Vicknesh Visvanathan, is an urban poet who resides in Hammersmith, West London. Spiritual Don is originally from Sri Lanka, but was born in Malaysia, and moved to London at the age of 2. Speaking on his identity, Spiritual Don remarks - “How British can you say I am?”

For Spiritual Don, discovering music has been a long battle. Spiritual Don always listened to music, but started writing poetry and songs in college, whilst also learning the keyboard. Spiritual Don was and is heavily influenced by Lenny Kravitz, Tupac Shakur and Prince. He used to listen to a lot of heavy metal and Gangsta Rap, but was dissuaded from listening due to it heavy satanic undertones, which took a toll on Spiritual Don’s mental health.

Spiritual Don had a breakdown at the age of 18, that he says was brought on by isolation. He was sectioned for 3 months at St. Bernards, and was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. “If you think you’re gonna survive on your own, you’re fooling yourself.”

Spiritual Don discovered Key Changes when he was staying in a hostel in Shepherd’s Bush. He was involved in an acting workshop called Cardboard Citizens, who introduced them to Key Changes, after Spiritual Don expressed his love for music.

One of the things Spiritual Don is best known for is his music tour of “Fitness First” Gyms circa 2015 - 2018
