SpongeBozz is a comic alter ego of popular German rapper <a href="spotify:artist:3TqfPVt0HX8GCzNOOjDcum">Sun Diego</a>, in which he dresses up as cartoon character SpongeBob Squarepants and performs aggressive battle raps. The character first appeared in 2013 as a competitor on German online battle rap competition JuliensBlogBattle. SpongeBozz won the competition, beating out rapper 4tune, and returned the following year, winning again with an elaborate video diss against rapper <a href="spotify:artist:5tdaFBbpswgn8rNTufLXvc">Gio</a>. SpongeBozz's identity has been officially kept secret, but several listeners pointed out similarities between SpongeBozz's rapping style and <a href="spotify:artist:3TqfPVt0HX8GCzNOOjDcum">Sun Diego</a>'s, and <a href="spotify:artist:3TqfPVt0HX8GCzNOOjDcum">Sun Diego</a> collaborator <a href="spotify:artist:6gto7HVNhu4ARE3P3g8Y5Y">Kollegah</a> confirmed the identity in an interview with German hip-hop magazine Juice. SpongeBozz announced his retirement from the battle rap scene with the announcement of debut full-length Planktonweed Tape. The album appeared in April of 2015, and immediately hit number one in Germany and Austria. His follow-up, Started from the Bottom/KrabbenKoke Tape, arrived in 2017 on the indie label <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Bikini+Bottom+Mafia%22">Bikini Bottom Mafia</a>/Soulfood. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
