Sredni Vashtar

Sredni Vashtar are a three-piece post rock band based in South East London in the UK.


Their sound is influenced by 80s alternative and 90s indie but also draws on elements from a much wider field including psyche and metronomic experimental music. This manifests itself in songs built on insistent and agile beats; atmospheric samples; spiralling guitar lines and pop hooks.


The band's live shows feature specially edited films which they project onto the stage throughout the set. Carefully chosen and sequenced songs interact with a collage of seemingly random images to create moments of serendipity which mesmerise audiences.


They rehearse in Deptford, London and are part of a burgeoning community of alternative rock bands in this part of the city.


Sredni Vashtar record and produce their own music via a DIY set up in their rehearsal studio.


The band met through mutual friends and have built up a large repertoire of original material.


They have augmented their stripped-down set up with the introduction of a sampler which has allowed them to create a more expansive sound.
