St Lucifer formed in October 2015; Within a month they’d played their first gig; Two months later they’d supported punk-legends Subway Sect, taken over Valentine Records, released a sold out 7″ single and blown up a record store, all in time for Christmas. Let’s start as we mean to go on….
Three more singles followed during a year of impressive gigging culminating in 2016’s self-titled debut (all released by the aforementioned Valentine Records).
A mini-album ‘Accelerator 69778094’ heralded a switch to the (increasingly globe-straddling) AnalogueTrash label, while the band spent much of 2017 writing and recording their next full length while consolidating their reputation as a ‘must-see’ live proposition.
LP ‘Music Is Violence’ proved to be a major a turning point for the band. With line-up changes, special guests and a vastly increased sonic palette, matched only by designer Jack Leeson’s striking sleeve – this was clearly a very different prospect to the heads-down electro-punk of their debut:
Most recently the band have curated a double album’s worth of b-sides, rarities, reworkings and remixes in the form of Biphoria / The Violation of St Lucifer. The band have described the first disc (Biphoria) as a companion piece to their two albums to date – as well as a tribute to the first two incarnations of the band.
St Lucifer are currently: David (Vocals/Guitar/Nord), Alice (Drums/Vocals), Ashleigh (Bass/Vocals)
Amy (Vocals/Percussion/Tech) #blackmetalgaydisco
