Stanford Fleet Street Singers

The Stanford Fleet Street Singers are an all-original, all-gender, comedy a cappella group from Stanford University. Founded in 1981, they are known for their spirited performances and unique comedic style. Fleet Street’s repertoire of entirely original pieces ranges from barbershop ballads to theatrical pop songs. The Fleet Street Singers have produced numerous albums and their performances have earned them recognition both nationally and internationally.


Fleet Street has a number of recording and national a cappella awards under their belts. One of those awards earned the group a spot on NBC’s “Today Show” and a performance in Lincoln Center. In 1996, world champion figure skater Rudy Galindo skated to Fleet Street&#39;s recording of <a href="spotify:track:0wxqFNmKzOm3PH5lIC317L" data-name="Ave Maria">Ave Maria</a>—and he commissioned his own single from the group the very next year.


In 2004, Fleet Street produced the first all-original college a cappella album—and promptly named it after themselves (<a href="spotify:album:2wXklyWmzf5BXaVKTVmWmR" data-name="Fleet Street">Fleet Street</a>). It was eponymous. Deke Sharon, considered the father of contemporary a cappella, called it “the most important collegiate a cappella album to be released in a decade.”
