Stape’s musical journey began in Indiana, where he grew up surrounded by the storytelling traditions of Midwestern songwriters and a family history rooted in Appalachian coal country. Those early influences, shaped by resilience and loss, sparked a lifelong love of melody and meaning—one that eventually carried him across the country. He spent chapters of his life in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Austin, each city adding its own rhythm, perspective, and color to his evolving sound.
His path has also led him to Nashville, where he has recorded many of his songs with talented musicians, producers, and co‑writers who helped shape the heartfelt, genre‑blending style he’s known for today. Drawing from a wide musical palette—jazz, blues, Americana, folk, pop, and subtle orchestral textures—collaboration remains at the core of his creative process, and he continues to work closely with artists who share his passion for crafting honest, meaningful songs.
Though he now calls Tampa, Florida home, Stape splits his creative life between two coasts. Much of the year, he writes along Florida’s beaches, letting the shoreline guide his ideas. In the summer, he heads north to the west coast of Michigan, spending long days on Lake Michigan writing, playing, and reconnecting with the quiet spaces that fuel his artistry.
