Starlight Girls

Starlight Girls formed in 2011, when Christina B, an Ohio ex-megachurch chorister turned rocker, met Shaw Walters, a guitar savant and budding tech wizard from San Francisco. Their self-titled debut caught the attention of both Brooklynites and the music blogosphere. Their follow-up EP, 7x3, was a collaboration with Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart that SPIN Magazine declared “undeniably luminous.” With their bandmates Sara Mundy, Tysen Arveson, Josh Davis, and Isavel Alvarez, they have created a disorienting but nostalgic sound that’s put them on stages with names from all over the musical map, including Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Kate Nash, St. Lucia, Tilly and the Wall, Nick Waterhouse, Total Slacker, Crystal Fighters, and Lucius.

In a burst of grit, the band has created their fourth album, the Entitled EP. Produced by Christina B, the album was recorded in upstate New York’s Marcata Studios by Kevin McMahon (Titus Andronicus, Widowspeak), mixed at Freshly Baked Studios in Brooklyn by Alexander Almgren (Skylar Spence, Born Cages, Vanessa Carlton) and mastered by Chris Gehringer (Lady Gaga, Drake, Rhianna) at New Jersey’s Sterling Sound. Entitled is a darkly upbeat come-on to the future.
