Starmarket was formed 1994 in Piteå, a small town in the north of Sweden, and quickly became a part of the emerging indie- and hardcore scene in northern Sweden in the mid 90's. Their way of blending melancholic pop and noisy indie rock with the energy of hardcore and punk was something fresh and in many ways Starmarket evoked the wave of "emo" bands that would come a decade later.

The mini-album Calendar and the furious Sunday's Worst Enemy further established their aggressive yet sensual sound. Extensive touring in Europe, Japan and North America helped building their reputation as a live act. In the US their albums got distribution through Deep Elm Records and Pop Kid Records. Just like their role models in the American band Hüsker Dü, Starmarket owns the strength of having two different singers and songwriters that complement each other.

Despite the fact that they never had a big commercial breakthrough, Starmarket will always have a special place in the heart for many people all over the world. In 2024 Starmarket reunites to celebrate 30 years as a band, also releasing two brand new tracks and doing a tour in Japan!
