Created and co-produced by Cedric Vuille & Phil Santschi, Steady Engine is a 16 tunes project which pays a vibrant tribute to some of the greatest artists of Jamaicain Rocksteady (1966 to 1968).
To make this dream come true, some famous veterans were called on from the national and international Ska and Reggae scenes as well as from the world of jazz and soul (see below: Dennis Bovell, Daniel Spahni, Bobby « Mr Soulman » Johnson, Sam Blaser, etc.)
Played with an immense respect for this music and its creators, Rock U Steady is an absolute cocktail of rhythm, melodies and sounds supported by a complete rhythm section (bass, drums, keyboards, organ, electric guitars, etc.), arranged with many unusual instruments (ukulele, bantar, clarinets, sitar, kalimba, etc.), some brass and loads of vocals.
