Steph Simon is a Tulsa-based hip-hop artist, educator, and community leader known for blending music with activism to reshape narratives around Tulsa’s Black history. Born Stephon Simon on November 4, 1987.
Simon is best known as the executive producer and a lead artist of Fire in Little Africa (FILA), a multimedia project commemorating the centennial of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. The project includes a hip-hop album, podcast, educational curriculum, and documentary, aiming to honor the legacy of Greenwood’s Black Wall Street. Released by Motown Records May 31st 2021.
In 2016, Simon founded the World Culture Music Festival, which he later rebranded as the Dreamland Festival. Inspired by the historic Williams Dreamland Theater, the festival celebrates music, art, and culture in Tulsa, drawing national attention to the city’s creative scene .
Beyond his musical endeavors, Simon is deeply invested in education. He partnered with McLain High School to establish TMC Records, a student-run label offering courses in music production, writing, and performance. This initiative provides students with hands-on experience in the music industry .
